Hotel Phoenix, which has 50 establishments throughout China, would have two towers with construction currently 60% completed.


Country Garden Pacific View Sdn Bhd (CGPV) executive director Datuk Md Othman Yusof said the first phase of the 280-room hotel, located behind the Forest City sales gallery, would be launched.


The target was to open 80 rooms by the end of September.


He said there woulf be job opportunities for locals and the inking of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with KPJ Education Group (KPYPJ) was to address such demand. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Johor Education, Information, Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development executive committee chairman Md Jais Sarday and state Human Resources and Unity executive committee chairman R. Vidyanathan.


The agreement was signed yesterday to provide internship, scholarship and recruitment for 293 KPYPJ students by 2020, giving them job opportunities.


“It is also Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar’s wish for us to give priority and vacancies that will benefit locals and this MoU is in line with that,” said Md Othman.


The agreement would also provide scholarships as well as enable both parties to also exchange expertise in terms of knowledge and experience to fulfil the needs of the hospitality and other related fields.

ISKANDAR PUTERI, March 6 — The Forest City development here has been accorded duty-free status to spur business activities and tourism on its four islands, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.


The granting of the status is one of four incentive packages announced by the prime minister at the official launch of its development here today.


The Sultan Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar was present.


Three other packages were corporate tax incentive for green developers and green development managers; corporate tax incentive for qualified service sector employers, or Iskandar Development Region (IDR) Class companies in tourism, health and education sectors; and no restriction/ equity conditions for foreign shareholders in companies that are eligible for the corporate tax incentives introduced.


“These packages are designed to ensure the success of the Forest City project based its masterplan and target of becoming a smart and green city,” Najib, who is also on his working visit to Johor, said.

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 22): Hong Kong-listed Country Garden Holdings Co Ltd and Esplanade Danga 88 Sdn Bhd, a Johor state-owned associate of Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor, today unveiled the much-touted Forest City mixed-use development located on four reclaimed islands in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.


Spanning over 1,386.05ha with an estimated investment of S$58.3 billion over the next 20 years, Forest City is expected to fuel the economy in the Iskandar region and neighbouring Singapore.


In a statement today, Country Garden said its sales galleries in Johor Bahru and Singapore are now open for exclusive previews and bookings in preparation for the development's official launch in the first quarter of 2016.

SINGAPORE: "Forest City", a lush urban getaway on four man-made islands in Iskandar Malaysia was formally unveiled on Friday by Country Garden Holdings Co Ltd, a Hong Kong-listed property developer.


Sprawled over 1,386.05ha, Forest City is a joint development with Johor's Esplanade Danga 88 Sdn Bhd.


Forest City is South-East Asia's first and largest mixed-use green development in terms of the number of units to be built with a vertical greenery and smart city design theme.


With an estimated investment of S$58.3 billion (RM175.8 billion) over the next 20 years, Forest City is expected to fuel the economic development of Iskandar region, the main southern development corridor in Johor and neighbouring Singapore.
